Your invitations, guest replies and check-in all in one tool

Carton Blanc is French software for invitations, registration and check-in at events by invitation, published by MAKEO SAS. You read every email before it goes out, guests reply without creating an account, and on the night you check arrivals off on your phone.

€49 incl. VAT for one event, or €99 incl. VAT a month for all your events, with no commitment. Invitation cards are free once your account is open.

  • No commitment
  • No ticketing, no commission
  • Database hosted in Paris

How it works

An event in five steps

Carton Blanc is online software for invitation-only events, from the guest list to check-in.

  1. Create the event

Title, date, venue, capacity, programme and invitation card. The email for each stage is drafted and dated.

  2. Import your guests

An Excel file or a pasted list of addresses. Duplicates are merged and unsubscribed contacts left out.

  3. Prepare the mailings

You read each email and adjust its wording and send date.

  4. Take registrations

Guests register on the event page and are confirmed at once. When the room is full, they join a waiting list.

  5. Check guests in

On the night, the list opens on your phone. Two days later, each group receives its own message.

The host's journey

Five screens, from creating the event to checking guests in.

A demonstration event: the host, guests, dates and figures are fictional. The screens are redrawn for this page, as close as possible to the real space.

  1. 1Create the event

You create the event: the email for each stage is drafted and dated straight away.

  2. 2Import your guests

An Excel file or a pasted list: a known address is completed, not duplicated, and anyone unsubscribed receives no mailing.

  3. 3Prepare the mailings

Nothing goes out without your approval: you read it, you approve it.

  4. 4Take registrations

Replies land in the list, confirmed at once. When the room is full: waiting list.

  5. 5Check guests in

At the door, one tap is enough: the list updates for the whole team.

Every event has its card

One event, one invitation, one style.

The registration page carries each host's invitation and takes on its colours. Here are 12 templates from the gallery, shown on fictitious events, one or two per occasion.

The mailings

The email calendar

When you create an event, every email is drafted and dated in relation to it, on the same day of the week. The D−14 reminder goes only to guests who have not yet registered.

  1. Six weeks before

The save the date, with your invitation and a link to reserve a place.

  2. Four weeks before

    The invitation: programme, speakers, venue.

  3. Two weeks before

A gentle reminder, sent only to guests who have not yet replied.

  4. The day before

The reminder to those attending, with the address and a calendar link.

  5. The evening

    Check-in on your phone.

  6. Two days after

The follow-up, with one message for those who came and another for those who could not.

Guests and the partners who invite them

Import your lists from Excel or simply paste in addresses; duplicates are merged. A partner inviting their own members gets a dedicated link, and every registration through it stays credited to them. Anyone who unsubscribes receives nothing further from you.

Your data

Your guest list belongs to you: you are responsible for it, and Carton Blanc hosts it on your behalf. The database is in Paris; the application is served by Vercel and emails are delivered by Resend, two providers based in the United States, under standard contractual clauses. Each host has their own space, kept apart from the others by the database itself.

Carton Blanc and free tools

A guest list, not a box office
Ticketing platforms sell places to the public. Carton Blanc handles guests chosen by the host: invitations, reminders, registrations and check-in. It takes no payments.
Clear funding
A free tool is funded some other way, for example by a fee on tickets, advertising or a paid plan for advanced features. Carton Blanc is funded by what the host pays, subscription or single event, and by nothing else.
A draft for every stage
When the event is created, the email for each stage is written and dated; the host reworks them at their own pace before they go.
A database in Europe
The guest list and registrations are stored in the European Union, in Paris, and can be exported to Excel at any time. Emails go through a delivery provider based in the United States.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to open a space?

As long as it takes to fill in the form: the space opens at once, and you prepare your events, guests and emails there. You subscribe, or pay for a single event, from within the space. The first mailing is checked by Carton Blanc: if it meets our criteria, it is scheduled without delay; otherwise we reply within one working day.

How many guests per event?

Up to 1,000 guests per event, registrations included, on the subscription and on a single paid event alike. Beyond that, write to us.

Can I import my guest list from Excel?

Yes. Carton Blanc imports an Excel file or a simple pasted list of addresses, and merges duplicates.

Where is the data stored, and who owns it?

The database is hosted in Paris, by Supabase (Amazon Web Services infrastructure, eu-west-3 region). Two providers based in the United States also process data to run the service, under standard contractual clauses: Vercel, which serves the application, and Resend, which delivers the emails. The host remains responsible for their guest list; Carton Blanc stores it on their behalf, never sells or passes it on, and the host can export it to Excel at any time.

Can anyone with the link register?

Yes. The registration page of a published event is open to anyone who has its address, until the event starts and within its capacity; beyond that, the person joins the waiting list. Guests who arrive through the link in their email find their name and email address already filled in. The page is not listed by search engines, but it is not password-protected: share the link with that in mind.

How does a guest unsubscribe?

Every email carries an unsubscribe link. Once unsubscribed, a person receives nothing further from that host.

Does Carton Blanc sell tickets?

No. Carton Blanc takes no ticket payments and sells nothing to guests: it handles invitations, registrations and check-in. If the event is paid for, payment happens outside Carton Blanc.

Do invitation cards cost extra?

No. As soon as your account is open, with or without a subscription, you create a card for each event from 481 templates, in English or in French.

In which languages do registration pages work?

In English on cartonblanc.com and in French on cartonblanc.fr. Invitation cards can be created in either language.

Can I pay for a single event, without subscribing?

Yes: €49 incl. VAT (€40.83 excl. VAT), paid once from the event's page in your space. It unlocks that event's emails and its public page only, until 30 days after the date set at the time of payment, follow-up message included. Your other events stay in preparation until they are paid for or covered by a subscription. The first mailing is checked by Carton Blanc in the same way.

Can I withdraw after paying?

Yes, if you are a private individual, within fourteen days of payment. For a single event, you get a full refund as long as the first invitation mailing has not gone out; once it has, the service has been provided and you can no longer withdraw. For a subscription, you pay for the days already used and the rest is refunded. The details are in article 5 bis of the terms of sale.

How do I cancel the subscription?

In one click from your space, with no notice period and no fee. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid.

Create an account

Your first name, last name and email address are enough to open your space. Everything else waits until it is needed.

Straight away

  • Your space opens, and the link to choose your password goes to your address (it is valid for one hour).
  • You create your events, import your guests, prepare the emails and make your invitation cards, free of charge.

At your first mailing

  • You pay for the event (€49 incl. VAT) or subscribe (€99 incl. VAT a month); your card and billing address are only asked for then.
  • Carton Blanc checks your first mailing when you schedule it. If it meets our criteria, it goes out at the time you set; otherwise we reply within one working day.
  • The registration page can be published once that first mailing is cleared.
