An Eventbrite alternative: who Carton Blanc suits, and who it does not

Updated

In short

  • Carton Blanc is an alternative to Eventbrite for events by invitation, but not for ticketing: it takes no payment for tickets and does not replace Eventbrite for selling places to the public.
  • Eventbrite lets you publish events for free and charges fees only on paid tickets; Carton Blanc is a paid tool with a fixed price.
  • Carton Blanc costs €49 incl. VAT per event, or €99 incl. VAT a month with no commitment, for up to 1,000 guests.
  • The facts about Eventbrite come from its public page read on 14 October 2026; they may have changed since.

What does Eventbrite do, and what does Carton Blanc do?

Eventbrite is a ticketing and event discovery platform: its home page invites visitors to browse local events. Its pricing page says that publishing an event is free, that free events carry no fees, and that ticketing fees on paid tickets are by default paid by buyers. It also mentions waiting lists, an organiser app and mobile check-in.

Carton Blanc does something else: it manages a list of guests chosen by the host. It drafts the emails, has you approve them, reminds only those who have not replied, runs a waiting list and gives you the check-in list on the night. It takes no payment.

Which events suit Carton Blanc better?

Events where you choose the guests: a club dinner, an association gala, a private view, a members' meeting, a client evening. You import your list, read each email before it goes out and do not publish the event on a marketplace.

The price is fixed and does not depend on ticket sales: €49 incl. VAT per event, for up to 1,000 guests. Data is hosted in the European Union, in Paris, and is neither sold nor passed on.

Which events suit Eventbrite better?

An event open to the public that sells tickets: a concert, a paid workshop, a festival. Carton Blanc does no ticketing and will not collect money for you. For a free event that wants to be found by strangers, Eventbrite's page says free events carry no fees, whereas Carton Blanc is paid.

If you need to sell places, make the event visible on a marketplace or pay nothing, Eventbrite is the better fit.

How do you move from one to the other?

Carton Blanc imports a list from an Excel file or by pasting addresses, and merges duplicates. If your current tool lets you export attendees to a file, that file is what you import. Whether Eventbrite offers such an export is for you to check in your account: it was not found on the page we read.

Also check that you are entitled to write to these people about a new event: the guide on GDPR and guest lists covers that point.

What happens to attendee data?

With Carton Blanc, the list belongs to you and you are responsible for it; it is hosted in Paris on your behalf and can be exported to Excel at any time. For Eventbrite, its data policy was not reviewed for this page: read its privacy policy before you decide.

Should you compare other tools?

Yes, if you need ticketing: the comparison page lists Billetweb, HelloAsso, Yurplan, Weezevent, Luma, idloom and others, with the reading date and the link to each page.
